5, 2007 Cira is amazing! On every occasion that I have seen her perform, I have been nothing but thrilled with the beauty, grace, and integrity of her dancing. She stays true to the 'old ways' of belly dance with her expert zill and veil work, yet still retains a fresh, modern feel that makes her a delight to watch. Razia - Eugene, OR |

Jody Beckwith-Jones has been a student of dance for over twenty-five years, starting with jazz, tap and ballet in Medford, Oregon. After moving to Salem, she took advantage of classes from the various area teachers, but studied ballet exclusively and assisted in teaching children's classes at the Ivan Novikoff School of Russian/American Ballet, which also included intensive, summer long ballet training in Seattle. While in Seattle, Jody also attended a teacher's training seminar at the Danish School of Ballet. At the age of 22, Jody fell in love with the art of Middle Eastern dance and studied with numerous teachers in Portland and the Willamette Valley. She also traveled to many workshops throughout the West Coast to studying with professional dancers such as Helena Erickson, Suzanna Del Vecchio, Amaya, Paulette Rees-Denis of Gypsy Caravan, and many others. |
Her vast training and excellent execution ultimately prepared her to begin performing at American and Middle Eastern restaurants throughout Portland and the Willamette Valley. Jody Beckwith-Jones is a very sought after instructor and trainer due to her extensive knowledge of the many forms of Middle Eastern dance, including cultural dances such as Khaleegy and Turkish 9/8 as well as the traditional American and Egyptian styles of Belly Dance. She trains her students not only to dance, but to be great performers. As such, she and her students have won many awards in troupe and solo performances. |
